The dynamic range never changed — it is BT.709 colour in a BT.2020 box, and on a real HDR display it looks worse than the original. We remap it properly. Every scene is analysed, luminance is rebuilt against the PQ curve, specular highlights are reconstructed, and the colour gamut is mathematically expanded to BT.2020. Then Dolby Vision metadata is authored on top, shot by shot.
